Facebook quietly offers storage service to developers

"Facebook has quietly started offering beta testers access to the latest version of a new storage service, according to Computerworld's Brian Fonseca. The wiki does warn users that the page is still in development and that users should make sure that data used in testing the service is properly backed up. Facebook.com seems to gain traction even among executives. My feel is that the way Facebook has built the platform is state-of-the-art and many others claiming to have Web 2.0 applications should be ashamed of themselves.

Yahoo Shells Out $350M for Zimbra

Yahoo said it has agreed to purchase open-source e-mail and collaboration software maker Zimbra for $350 million. I guess somebody can make money on open-source after all.... I would not bet my business on open-source today. I have had my fair share of it. It is very interesting to see that these open-source vendors are eaten up by either by the big search engine vendors or traditional vendors... Open-source... for whom?
